HALL OF FAME ISSUES

This page is devoted to the frequently debated issue of why Howie is not in the HTFA Hall of Fame. Named "Howie" as a rookie for his resemblance to the great Howie Long (the porn star, not the football player) Howie's career in the league has been a long and illustrious one to say the least. After successful college careers at both Queen's and UBC Howie joined the team in 1990 following 7 seasons in the Oakville Touch Football league. Known for his speed and catlike reflexes Howie has been a defensive stalwart for the Chargers, leading the team and probably the whole league in interceptions in the 2000 season. In addition to his defensive skills he is the only Charger in team history to boast a flawless 100 % completion rate as a receiver.

Hence the perplexing question of why he is continually passed over for Hall of Fame induction. " I asked Pete Rose. He doesn't get it either." remarks Howie in response to this question. The issue is even more complicated by the fact that Chargers coach, Ken Curtis is an inductee, notwithstanding his clearly inferior accomplishments as a player.
