May 26, 2002

Well the 2002 season is upon us and everyone is asking the question "Where's Howie?". He's taken a leave of absence from the team and is now living in South Korea where rumor has it he is dominating the South Korean Touch Football League (SKTFL) as a designated import. There is already talk of his early induction into the SKTFL Hall of Fame.

As for the Chargers they opened the season with a loss giving up 39 points on defense, I note. Howie's absence is already being felt on that left side. Although that problem may be insurmountable you can bet Coach Curtis will whip the team into shape in the post-Howie era and the boys will soon be winning again (though giving up more points in the process). Stay tuned for further develpoments.

Dan Curtis 1955-2001

In memory of number 41 Dan Curtis who passed away on July 21, 2001 after a bout with cancer. One of the nicest individuals one could ever hope to encounter, Dan was only 46 at the time of his passing and had been an active member of the team since the early 1970's. Our condolences are extended to his family as well as to his brother Ken (to Dan's left in the photo), who, in light of this sad occasion will be given a 2 week reprieve from my barbs and shots. The Chargers will wear arm bands for the game this coming Saturday in honour of our departed team mate. He will be sorely missed by all who had an opportunuty to meet and play with him.
